Ohio Highway Patrol trooper Dallas Salyers uses a laser to check motorists’ speed along U.S. 52 near Solida Road Wednesday. Law enforcement agencies will be watching for drivers showing signs of impairment, safety belt violations and any violation that would endanger others this holiday.

Officers suggest that if drinking is involved with the celebration, then people should stay where they are or at a hotel or make alternative plans to driving, such as a cab or designated driver.
