Well, the Trailblazers gained a measure of revenge Thursday night at the Ironton Sports Center with a 76-60 drubbing of Temple Baptist.

"The kids had some revenge on their minds," OUSC coach Ed Fry said.

"It felt good to get one. We’ve played a tough schedule and we’ve played well, but it’s been tough to get one. This was a team that beat us earlier in the year, so we feel good about this."

Andrew Stevens bombed in six 3-pointers as he scored a game-high 24 points to pace OUSC. Derek Combs scored 22 points and Maurice Creel had 14 points and 14 rebounds. Momir Gajic had 11 rebounds.

"Derek is becoming the player we thought he would be when he came here. He’s capable of taking over a game. And Andrew is Andrew. He’s our most consistent scorer," said Fry.

"We’re getting better. It may not show in the win column, but we’re getting better. Rio Grande beat us by 31 earlier and we took them to overtime (Tuesday). And we’re getting healthy. Momir has been playing hurt, and C. J. (Captain) was out for six weeks and he’s just coming back."

Marcus had scored 15 points, Eric Hyrne 12, and Matt Terrell 11 to lead Temple Baptist.

The Trailblazers jumped out to a 21-0 lead before Temple scored. Ohio Southern went on to lead 38-25 at the half as Stevens scored 15 of his points.

Terrell had all 11 of his points the first half for Temple Baptist.

"We came out on fire, then there was a lull, but we finished the game strong. We played good defense, and when you play good defense, you’ll get some chances on offense," Fry said.

Combs erupted for 16 points the second half and Creel and Stevens combined for 19 points. Hyrne had 12 points and Harris 10 to pace Temple Baptist the second half.

"Maurice is really coming on. He’s in double figures in rebounding every game, and so is Momir," said Fry.

The Trailblazers, now 7-11, play at 3 p.m. Sunday at University of Miami-Hamilton. The next home game is Saturday, Jan. 8, against Alice Lloyd (W.Va.) College.
