Huntington, W.Va. – Hot shots. Excellent shooting was the difference as the unbeaten Chesapeake Panthers ripped the Huntington St. Joe Fighting Irish 67-45 Tuesday.

"Once we got going we were OK," Panthers coach Norm Persin said. "We played pretty well and we shot pretty well."

Chesapeake hit 26-of-47 field goal attempts for 55 percent including 23-of-34 from 2-point range for a sizzling 68 percent.

The Panthers were 5-of-13 from behind the arc for 38.5 percent.

Andy Clark and Anthony Delimpo scored 13 points each to pace the Panthers. Bobby Barbour added 10 points.

Delimpo also had 12 rebounds while Clark had three assists and Adam Pemberton handed out three assists and grabbed three steals.

Josh Gursky had 16 points for the Irish who made 16 of 52 shots for 31 percent.

The Panthers jumped out to an 11-1 lead and led 13-6 at the end of the quarter on the strength of 9 points by Clark.

The lead was 28-20 at the half.

Barbour scored 8 points the third quarter as Chesapeake pulled away to a 48-34 lead and coasted to the win.

Chesapeake, 9-0, will play Scott County, Ky., at 1:45 p.m. Sunday at Battelle Hall in Columbus in the 11th annual National Hoops Classic. Tickets for the event are available through Friday at Chesapeake High School.

Scott County is ranked second in the state of Kentucky.

Chesapeake is ranked 8th in the Associated Press Division III poll.

"They’re awful good. We’ll get a chance to see what kind of team we are. They’ll be a tough test for us," Persin said.
