Norm Persin told his team that they would see what they were made of after a tough loss to Tolsia, W.Va., in the Huntington St. Joe tournament over the past weekend.

Chesapeake rebounded by whipping the Pointers 92-62 in Ohio Valley Conference play.

"We came out with a lot more intensity than Friday night," Persin said. "We got out of the gate fast hitting some threes. When you are up 30 at the half at South Point you’ve done something. They have a good team and they are always tough at home."

Chesapeake, 13-2, 5-0, was paced by a game-high 20 points from Bobby Barbour including four 3-pointers. Three others hit double figures for the Panthers. Anthony Delimpo had 15 points, Zeb Best had 14 and Abe Huff had 10.

"We came in Saturday and watched the Tolsia tape and I told them we would see what kind of team they are with games at South Point and Fairland," Persin said.

South Point, 5-10 1-4, was led by Shane Holsinger with 18 points with four 3-pointers. Jarred Perdue and B.J. Ferrell each had 14 points.

"We obviously didn’t come to play tonight," Pointers coach Mark Lafon said. "They outplayed us in every aspect of the game."

Chesapeake scored the first eight points and never looked back. Delimpo hit a short shot and a 16-footer to end the run.

Ferrell nailed a 10-footer at the 4:22 mark making it 8-2.

The Panthers then went on a nine point run. Barbour hit a 3-pointer and Best converted a 3-point play making it 17-2.

Barbour continued the hot shooting in the second quarter hitting a 16-footer and a 3-pointer on consecutive trips making the score 30-10.

A six-point run at the end of the half gave the Panthers a 49-17 lead. Matt White had four points during the run.

Chesapeake outscored South Point 12-6 in the first six minutes of the second half making it 61-25.

Both teams took it up a notch in the fourth quarter scoring 29 points apiece. Holsinger caught fire for the Pointers scoring 12 points including three straight 3-pointers.

Chesapeake will travel to Fairland for an OVC showdown Friday. The Panthers hold a one-game lead over the Dragons.
