Sark hit the game-winning shot as time expired in overtime to lift Coal Grove over the Rock Hill Redmen 67-65 in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

Ryan Young hit a 3-pointer to open the overtime and the Hornets jumped out to a six-point lead.

Rock Hill’s Brian Tennant drained two 3-pointers with under 40 seconds on the clock to tie the game at 65-65.

Coal Grove got the ball back with 10 seconds. Young’s 3-point attempt bounced hard off the rim and Sark grabbed the rebound and hit a fade away shot as the ball hung on the rim momentarily and then fell through the basket.

Coal Grove (2-12, 1-4) was led by Jason Winters with 16 points and Young scored 15. Jason Adams added 11.

Adams also had 10 rebounds and four assists while Dean Mader had nine rebounds and four assists.

Rock Hill (7-9, 2-3) was led by Tanner Heaberlin with a game-high 18 points. Tennant scored 16, Brent Clagg 12, and David Schug added 11.

"The difference was Billy Mullins had 22 points at Rock Hill, and tonight he didn’t score," Hornets coach Darrell Humphreys said.

"I thought Jason Adams had a nice game. I got on him this week to start shooting the ball more. But Rock Hill’s kids fought their guts out. They never gave up."

Heaberlin had eight points and Young had eight as the teams tied 17-17 the first quarter.

Dave Webb scored all six of his points the second quarter as Coal Grove outscored the Redmen 20-11 to lead 37-28 at the half.

"Dave Webb gave us a big spark off the bench the second quarter. We’re coming together as a team. Hopefully, we’ll be able to surprise a few teams at tournament time," said Humphreys.

Coal Grove went up 49-39 after three quarters, but Rock Hill held the Hornets to just six points the fourth quarter as they came back to tie the game.

Both teams had chances to win at the end of regulation but failed to score.
