Ohio Valley Conference games at South Point and Fairland this past week served as tests for the Panthers.

Chesapeake downed Fairland Friday night 73-43 wrapping up at least a share of the conference crown with two games remaining. The Panthers have won the two games by a total of 60 points.

"We told the kids last year that no one has ever won four consecutive OVC titles and here we are approaching a fifth, that’s quite an accomplishment." Persin said.

Chesapeake, 14-2 6-0, also gained another measure of revenge from the Dragons. Fairland knocked off the Panthers three out of four tries last year and now the Panthers have pulled a regular season sweep of their chief rival.

"They have a good team and with all the people packed in here, with all the noise, it can be a tough place to play," Persin said. "Our press was so relaxed and so relentless it took them out of the game right away."

Anthony Delimpo led the Panthers with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Bobby Barbour also hit double figures with 15 and Zeb Best had 10.

Josh Dunfee led the Dragons with 13 points and Jay Capper added 11. Fairland drops to 9-5 and 3-2 in conference play.

In less than four and a half minutes the Panthers had jumped out to a 17-2 lead. Best hit two layups and a hook shot putting Chesapeake ahead 8-2 and a layup off a fast break from Matt White made the lead 19-3.

J.W. Jones and Dunfee cut into the Panthers lead in the second quarter making it 26-9.

Delimpo pushed the lead to above 20 when he hit a running hook. A steal and a layup seconds later from Andy Clark made the halftime lead 39-17.

Chesapeake outscored Fairland 11-10 in the fourth quarter and 23-16 in the final period.

The Panthers as a team hit 31 of 63 from the floor for 49 percent Fairland was 15 of 41 for just 36.6 percent.

On Tuesday, Chesapeake will host Minford and Fairland entertains Symmes Valley in non-league games.
