The defensive objective was to contain the Jeeps leading scorer Justin Lower, and that’s just what the Green defensive trio did as they held Lower to 14 points – all in the first half.

"Ben Dyer, Jeff Dixon, and Kyle Dyer all had times when they guarded Justin Lower and did a nice job and made contributions on the defensive end. Lower is their leading scorer and he’s had some big games," Green coach Kevin Lewis said.

"Lower had 14 points the first half and we shut him down the second half. I’m sure that hasn’t happened many times in his career when he was shut out in a half."

Providing the offensive fun for Green (13-3) were the trio of Chris Williams with 18 points, Alex Poe with 17, and Michael Riffe with 16. Poe also had eight rebounds and Riffe eight assists.

"We got some real nice contributions from all our starters. That’s what we like to do. Riffe did a nice job distributing ball and Alex had rebounds to go along with his points," said Lewis.

Besides Lower with 14, Brian Hickman scored 12 and Josh Horner 10 for the Jeeps.

Williams had seven points and Riffe five the first quarter as Green took a 17-15 lead. Lower and Horner combined for 13 of South Webster’s points.

Lower came back to score seven more points the second quarter as the Jeeps closed the gap to 30-29 at the half.

But with Poe scoring eight points and Lower being held scoreless, Green opened up a 47-41 lead after three quarters.

Williams came back to score seven and Poe six the fourth quarter to more than offset nine by Hickman and the Bobcats pulled away to the easy win.

Green is off Friday and plays at Ironton St. Joe Saturday night.
