In the Ohio Valley Conference dual meet, the Chesapeake Panthers came away with a 39-18 win over the South Point Pointers.

"We’ve improved. We have only one senior (Doug Wiley), so we knew we had a lot of room for improvement," Panthers coach Phil Davis said. "And Eddie Neel has been wrestling pretty well."

Wiley is now 26-5 on the season.

215 – Carl Bonecutter (SP) pinned Brian Marshall (Ch).

275 – B. J. Bellville (SP) pinned Isaac Best (Ch).

Chesapeake’s Div. III sectional tournament is scheduled Friday and Saturday at West Jefferson.

South Point will wrestle in the Div. II sectional Saturday at Washington Court House.

The Pointers are led by Fuller who is 34-2 and is seeded third, and Belville who is 28-4 and seeded fourth. Kinder at 13-7 and Bonecutter at 22-11 are also threats to advance.

"We’ve got four or five who have a shot of getting to the district," Pointers coach Chris Watts said. "We’ve got a tough sectional."

In last week’s Chesapeake Round Robin Wrestling tournament, the big schools came up big winners.

Cabell Midland No. 2 won the tournament with Huntington High No. 2 second.

South Point, Spring Valley, and host Chesapeake comprised the rest of the field.
