Matkins, Fuller star for all-stars

In the District 13 Coaches All-Star game Monday at the University of Rio Grande, Matkins and Fuller put on a display of their shooting ability.

In the District 13 Coaches All-Star game Monday at the University of Rio Grande, Matkins and Fuller put on a display of their shooting ability.

Matkins, a second team All-Ohio pick for the Rock Hill Redwomen, scored 14 points to go along with Abbey Jennings of Logan who also had 14 points as the Div. I-II stars beat the III-IV team 77-52.

Katie McBroom of Logan, who earlier won the 3-point goal shooting contest, led the I-II team with a game-high 20 points inlcuding four 3-pointers.

Fuller led the III-IV team with 16 points, nine the first half. She was the team member in double figures.

Symmes Valley’s Renae Donahoe had three points in the losing effort.

The I-II team led 34-21 at the half, and then McBroom scored 10 points and Matkins eight the second half as they coasted to the win.

In the boys’ contest between games, Ironton’s Jason Harmon won the slam dunk contest while Kyle Norris was the 3-point goal shooting winner.

Results for the boys all-star game were not available at press time.
