Sato was selected as the Division II player of the year and Carter the same award in Division III based on the recommendations of a state media panel.

A Central African Republic native who astonished many in his first year of high school basketball in the United States, Sato averaged 26.4 points, 15.6 rebounds and 5.3 assists a game while hitting 72 percent of his shots from inside the arc, 41.3 percent behind it and 77 percent at the line.
