Watkins Memorial won the meet easily with 121 point, but it was Harmon who came away with the best individual day.

Harmon, the Ironton Fighting Tigers senior standout, won two events and scored 26 points to win meet high point honors.

"Obviously, we’re pleased with Jason’s performance. He had a heck of a day," Ironton coach Greg Cronacher said.

"We did a decent job as a team, but we could have done better overall. We’ll just go back to work Monday and try to improve."

Logan finished second with 80.5 points, just one more than Ironton.

Portsmouth was fourth with a 66.5 points followed by Gallipolis with 63, Chesapeake 59.5, Wellston 58.5, Huntington 54, South Point 20, Fairland 11.5, Rock Hill 5, and Green 4.

Jarrod Smith won both the shot put (48-4 1/4) and the discus (143-3) for all of South Point’s total.

Harmon won the long jump with a leap of 20-5 to beat Portsmouth’s Jo Jo Parker who went 20-0 3/4. Harmon took first in the 110 high hurdles at 15.7 seconds and was third in the 300 hurdles at 43.4 seconds. Teammate Jerry Massie and Fairland’s Jack Girgis tied for fourth at 43.5 seconds.

Cronacher was happy with Erique Bacon who was third in the shot put at 47-1, Mark Gleichauf who was third in the discus at 135-4, Brad Washburn who was third in the 1600, Hugh Scott was third in the 400, and Jesse Collins who cleared 11-feet in the pole vault to take fourth.

Washburn’s running mate Ryan McClellan was fifth in the 1600.

"Our discus throwers did well. Mark Gleichauf did better than last week and so did Brandon Brown," said Cronacher.

"Hugh Scott was third in the 400 which is good for a sophomore, and I was pleased with Collins in the pole vault. He went 11 feet and flew over it. I think he’s capable of going another foot. So we have plenty of room for improvement."

Chesapeake’s Danny Wassell won the high jump as he cleared 6-4, but the Panthers didn’t get much help from their star Robby Isaacs who missed much of the meet because he was taking the ACT test.

Isaacs failed to run in the 100 and 200 meter dash preliminaries, or enter the long jump.

Chesapeake will be the host site of the Lions Club Invitational at 5 p.m. Friday.
