Aid – Adam Corn was just what the doctor ordered. Or, in this case, the coach ordered. Corn gave the Symmes Valley Vikings pitching staff a boost Wednesday as he pitched a one-hitter to beat the New Boston Tigers 14-0.

"Adam Corn pitched an outstanding game. We’re going to need his help down the road," Vikings coach Rusty Webb said.

Corn struck out eight, didn’t walk a batter, and the only hit was a single over his five innings of work.

Symmes Valley collected 10 hits led by Justin Myers home run. Corn aided his own cause by going 2-for-3 while Joseph Patterson and Chad Higgins were 1-1.

"We got a chance to play some of the younger kids and they did a good job for us," Webb said.

Corn had a double to drive in Billy McCarty the first inning to key a three-run rally.

Two passed ball scored a couple of runs in the second to make it 5-0, and Myers clubbed a two-run homer in a big six-run third inning that pushed the lead to 11-0.

Patterson had a two-run double in the fourth for two runs, and the third run of the inning scored when Michael Roth walked, moved up on a wild pitch, and scored on Higgins’ double.

The Vikings are now 3-0 on the season and 2-0 in the Southern Ohio Conference. They play at Portsmouth Notre Dame Friday in the league game.
