Whitwell Elementary third-graders Sara Jones, left, and Ashleigh Garris perform a few last-minute adjustments to their science fair project at Whitwell Tuesday. The girls’ project theme was "Trash to Treasure." The students’ research focused on the benefits of recycling. More than 55 children participated in the event, earning ratings for their work. Some of the other project topics included stalactites and stalagmites, a salt and crystal water display and conductivity.
