Club members currently are selling roses to be delivered Friday, May 5, said Mark Compston, rose sale chairman.
"The funds raised from the rose sale help underwrite community projects, such as Rotary’s annual nursing scholarships as well as donations to Boy and Girl Scouts, the United Way and a number of other worthwhile projects and civic endeavors," Compston said.
Cost of a dozen roses is $13. Out-of-town delivery is available through the U.S. Postal Service for a total charge of $19.25 per dozen.
"Roses may be sent to any address in the United States, except Alaska and Hawaii," Compston explained. "Our supplier will do the actual shipping from the company’s New Philadelphia office. The packaging is high quality, so purchasers do not need to worry about whether or not the roses they ship will arrive undamaged."
Roses will be available in red as well as a limited number of other colors, mainly yellow.
"Our goal is to sell 1,000 dozen roses," he said.
"These are wonderful roses and are a very high quality," he added. "They are picked fresh right at the time they are shipped to us and are driven here directly from an Ohio rose grower."
Ironton Rotary Club members are accepting orders through Friday, April 28.
