The Symmes Valley High School Drama Club will present "Robin Hood" at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 6, and at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 7, at the high school.

And fans of either "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves" or "Robin Hood: Men in Tights" will find something to enjoy in this musical, which is based on the book, music teacher Tim Kelly and Drama Club sponsor Danny Payne said.

"The play has a good mix of drama and comedy," Payne said. "It’s a mix between Kevin Costner and Men in Tights. We’re going to give the audience a lot to laugh at."

The school chose to perform "Robin Hood" because the students thought the production would appeal to a diverse audience, Payne said.

"We always have to choose something the community would enjoy and we felt this would be something they would like," he said.

And if opening night goes as well as the rehearsals, the community is in for a real treat, Payne added.

"Everything’s starting to come together," he said. "We have a lot of talented kids in our high school and this is a great opportunity for them to display their talents."

Symmes Valley High School students have more than just acting skills, though. The musical is completely student-produced, Payne said.

"The students did the backdrops and the community helped with the costumes," he said.

The play is well worth the price of admission, which is $3 for adults and $2 for students, Payne said. Tickets will be available at the door.
