The South Point Pointers jumped out to an 8-0 lead after two innings and went on to beat the Rock Hill Redmen 12-7 Thursday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

The South Point Pointers jumped out to an 8-0 lead after two innings and went on to beat the Rock Hill Redmen 12-7 Thursday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

South Point scored four runs in each of the first two innings.

In the first, Brian Cremeans and Jared Waggoner singled, and B. J. Belville doubled to right to score Cremeans. Jamie Douglas reached on an error as two more scored, Shane Holsinger and Jared Perdue walked to load the bases, and Justin Eaches singled in a run.

In the second, Cremeans walked, Waggoner singled, and Douglas walked to load the bases. Patrick Panell walked to force in a run, Holsinger doubled home a pair, and Perdue singled in the final run.

The Pointers made it 9-0 in the top of the third.

Cremeans had a base hit, Belville grounded out, and Douglas had an RBI single.

Rock Hill scored three in the bottom of the inning.

Nate Lambert walked, David Malone was hit by a pitch, and Josh Harper slugged a three-run homer to left.

South Point got a run back in the fourth when Holsinger walked, stole second, and scored on a hit by Eaches.

The lead went to 12-3 in the fifth.

Douglas walked, Panell was hit by a pitch, Eaches walked, and Shane Fuller had a two-out, two-run single.

Rock Hill scored four runs in the sixth to close the gap to 12-7.

Derek Malone had a one-out single, Nate Lambert singled, and a force play at second put runners on the corners.

Dave Malone, Harper and Tyler Virgin all followed with run-scoring singles, but Panell got the next batter to ground out and end the game.

South Point had 14 hits to go along with nine walks. Cremeans and Holsinger were 2-3 while Waggoner and Eaches were 2-4.

Harper went 2-4 as Rock Hill got nine hits.

Panell picked up the win as he went the distance striking out five and walking four.

South Point, 8-5 and 5-3 in the league, will now host Rock Hill Friday.
