Fairland and St. Joe combined for 22 hits and 21 runs Monday as the Dragons posted a 13-8 win over St. Joe.

Ryan Boso went 3-5 and Jeremy Louden and J. W. Jones homered to lead a 14-hit Fairland attack.

St. Joe was led by Charley Yaniko who went 3-4 and slugged a pair of three-run home runs. Bub Waginger was 2-3 for the Flyers.

"We had some decent hits. Charley Yaniko had a whale of a game at the plate. He hit the ball hard," St. Joe coach Kevin Sheridan said. "And our young guys like Kyle Johnson and Danny Stack hit the ball.

"Bub didn’t do a bad job. He put the ball around the plate, they just put the ball in play and they hit the ball well."

Fairland took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first.

Boso doubled, Kyle Leadmon was hit by a pitch, and Toby Morrison had an RBI single. A ground out moved the runners up, and J. W. Jones had a two-out, two-run single.

St. Joe tied the game in the bottom of the inning.

Bub Waginger doubled, Eric Waginger walked, and Yaniko slugged a three-run homer.

Fairland regained the lead at 5-3 in the third when Stuart Shepherd singled and J. W. Jones hit a two-run homer.

The lead went to 6-3 in the fourth on a walk to Chris Hardy, a single by Boso, a walk to Louden to load the bases, and a sacrifice fly by Leadmon.

The Dragons erupted for six runs in the fifth.

Shepherd, J. W. Jones, and Josh Dunfee all singled for two runs. Jarred Schneider walked and K. C. Jones had a two-run single. Louden then capped the rally with a two-run homer.

St. Joe came back with three runs in the bottom of the inning.

Johnson singled, Bub Waginger walked, and Yaniko cranked his second three-run homer of the game.

The Flyers got within 12-8 with a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Stack walked, moved up on a wild pitch, and Bub Waginger had a run-scoring single. Pat Malone singled to left with Waginger moving and an outfield error allowed the run to score.

Fairland capped the scoring in the seventh when Boso doubled and Louden singled.

St. Joe, 4-7, hosts Huntington St. Joe Tuesday. Fairland is now 11-3.
