Keaton struck out eight and walked two in the five-inning mercy rule game victory. He also went 3-4 with the two home runs.

Dean Mader was 3-3 with a double, Dave Webb went 3-3, Ryan Brown 2-3, and Josh Keaton 2-4.

"Jarrod hit the ball well. Dave Webb stepped it up. It’s good to see Dave (Webb) come out and hit like that. And Dean (Mader) continues to hit the ball pretty well," Hornets assistant coach Bill Boyd said. "And the bottom of our lineup had four hits and scored two runs. That takes some pressure off the top of the order."

Coal Grove, 7-5 and 5-3, plays at Chesapeake Tuesday and hosts the Panthers Wednesday.

The Hornets went in front 1-0 in the first when Keaton hit solo home run.

Rock Hill tied the game in the third on two Hornet errors, but Coal Grove pushed across three runs in the bottom of the inning to lead 4-1.

Tim McClean reached on an error and scored on Keaton’s base hit. Dean Mader added an RBI single, stole second, and came around to score on a hit by Webb.

Coal Grove came back to score four times in the fourth to build an 8-1 lead.

Josh Holland led off with a single, stole second and third, and came home on McClean’s sacrifice fly. Keaton then hit his second home run of the game.

Mader followed with a single, stole second, and Webb singled him home. Webb then stole second and third, and scored on a wild pitch.

Rock Hill’s final run scored in the fifth when Josh Harper singled and came around on a hit by Tyler Virgin.

The mercy rule came into effect in the bottom of the inning when the Hornets scored four times.

Josh Collins reached on a error, stole second and third, and came home when Keaton grounded out.

McClean was hit by a pitch, Mader walked, Webb was hit by a pitch forcing a person.

Josh Keaton then singled home a run, Ryan Brown knocked in a run with a base hit, Webb was hit by a pitch, and Scott Lewis hit a sacrifice fly to force in the run for the mercy rule.

Coal Grove’s doubleheader this Saturday against Portsmouth West has been canceled.

Rock Hill is 2-10 and 1-9 in the league.
