Motorists passing by Manfredi Motor Transit Co. on Tuesday should not be alarmed by the group of emergency vehicles they see, county officials said. The Lawrence County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) will begin its annual hazardous materials training exercise at 6 p.m., said Margie Burcham, LEPC information coordinator.

The exercise will be held at Manfredi at 924 County Road 400.

Plans call for several local, county and state agencies to respond to a mock tanker truck fire, Ms. Burcham said.

"A passing motorist will report the mock fire, with a subsequent gas leak, on a cellular phone to Lawrence County 911," she said. "911 operators will then dispatch Hamilton Township Volunteer Fire Department to the scene."

Other agencies will be alerted at the request of the fire department.

Motorists should not be alarmed but should be aware that there will be some traffic restrictions east and west of the area, Ms. Burcham.

Access to County Road 400 will be restricted in Lawrence and Scioto counties for about two hours, she said.

Law enforcement agencies and firefighters will control traffic around the area, and assist motorists as needed.
