For the third straight tournament game, Green was involved in a one-run game, and for the third straight time the Lady Bobcats won.

This one-run win was 3-2 over the Adena Lady Warriors Wednesday in the Division III district finals that vaulted Green into the regionals.

Green (10-7) plays in the regionals at 5 p.m. Thursday, May 25, at Lancaster.

"I think the girls just like making me nervous," Green coach Jodi Armstrong said with a laugh. "But being in tight games helps us play under pressure. We’re hoping that our performance in the district will help us in the regionals."

Jessica Butler had another big performance as she pitched a five-hitter, struck out seven, and did not issue a walk.

"Jess is just very consistent and very smart on the mound. She has a lot of confidence in her defense behind her. She shows it in her pitching,’ said Armstrong.

Green had only five hits of its own, but each hit contributed to its scoring.

Courtney Moore hit a two-out inside-the-park home run in the first inning to put Green up 1-0.

Adena tied the game in the third when Graham tripled and Peterson put down a squeeze bunt to help Adena tie the game in the third.

The lead went to 3-1 in the fifth.

Heidi McDavid walked and Erica Bradley singled to start the inning, they moved up on a passed ball, and, after Moore was intentionally, Ann Barrett hit a sacrifice fly to score McDavid and send Butler to third.

A misplayed hard ground ball and allowed Butler to score.

Putnam’s inside-the-park home run got Adena within 3-2, but Butler shut down the Lady Warriors the rest of the way.

"This was a big team win. We knew going in that it would take everything we had to win. Everyone up and down the lineup contributed a key hit or big defensive play," said Armstrong.
