Mickie Tasker

May 7, 1909-Aug. 12, 2001

Mickie Ann Tasker, 92, of Ironton died Sunday at her home.

The Lawrence County, Ky., native was born May 7, 1909, the daughter of the late John Franklin and Jemima Jane Parker Sprouse.

She was the wife of the late William Roy Tasker.

The homemaker was a member of Freedom Baptist Church of Ironton and she attended Ohio Furnace schools.

She also was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Abby Jane Tasker Lucas; six brothers, Frank Sprouse, R.B. Sprouse, Levi Sprouse, Proctor Sprouse, Don Sprouse and Bill Sprouse; and three sisters, Hattie Sprouse, Ezzie Queen and Phoebe Puckett.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home, with the Rev. Leon Dalton and Larry Ison officiating. Burial will be in Buckeye Cemetery.

Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Alfred Eastham

Sept. 19, 1958-Aug. 12, 2001

COAL GROVE – Alfred Cleveland "P.B." Eastham, 42, of Coal Grove died Sunday at his home.

The Lawrence County native was born Sept. 19, 1958, the son of the late Joe and Ollie Brumfield Eastham.

He was a former member of the Ironton Moose Lodge and he attended Ironton schools.

He also was preceded in death by one brother, Clyde "Wookie" Eastham; and one sister, Joanne Shank.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dave Saunders officiating.

Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Paul Wiehle Jr.

Sept. 13, 1914-July 17, 2001

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. – Paul E. Wiehle Jr., 87, of Ormond Beach died Tuesday, July 17, at Halifax Medical Center. The Ironton, Ohio, native was born Sept. 13, 1914.

He was the husband of Joan Wiehle, who survives.

The World War II Air Force veteran moved to Ormond Beach from Ironton in 1965, and he was the former owner of Modern Barber Shop in Ironton. He was a member of the North Peninsula Baptist Church in Ormond Beach and he was a professional musician.

Volusia Memorial Funeral Homes is in charge of the arrangements.

George Swango

July 2, 1954-Aug. 4, 2001

YUCCA, Ariz. – George Michael "Mike" Swango, 47, of Yucca, formerly of Pedro, Ohio, died Saturday, Aug. 4, at his home.

The Pedro native was born July 2, 1954, the son of Emma Jean Swango of Pedro, Ohio, and George Jefferson Swango of Cincinnati, Ohio.

He was the husband of Linda Swango, who survives.

The Vietnam veteran was employed by the State of Arizona and he attended Symmes Valley schools.

He also was preceded in death by grandparents who helped raise him in their home, Dempse and Nora Mitchell.

A memorial service will be 5 p.m. Saturday at the City Mission Church in Ironton with the Rev. James Cremeans officiating.

Emma Goebel

March 9, 1921-Aug. 13, 2001

FLATWOODS, Ky. – Emma Ethel Gilley Goebel, 80, of Flatwoods died Monday at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.

The Flatwoods native was born March 9, 1921, the daughter of the late Ora and Hilla Moore Gilley.

She was the wife of the late James Arthur Goebel.

She was owner-manager of the Goebel Texaco and she was a member of the TOPS Club, Inc.

She also was preceded in death by one son, James A. Goebel; one brother, Lawrence Gilley; and one sister, Goldie McKenzie.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods, with Victor Langdon officiating.

Burial will be in Siloam Cemetery.

Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mary McComas

Nov. 30, 1919-Aug. 12, 2001

CHESTERVILLE – Mary Eavline Brunner McComas, 81, of Chesterville, formerly of Chesapeake, died Sunday.

The Lawrence County native was born Nov. 30, 1919, the daughter of the late Rosco and Susie Gibson Sites.

She was a member of the Rockwood Baptist Church of Chesapeake.

She also was preceded in death by one sister, Dorthy Carico; and one brother, Charles Sites.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hall Funeral Home, with the Rev. Eddie Salmons officiating.

Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens in South Point.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mildred Vance

Mildred Vance, 78, of Ironton died Monday at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky.

Arrangements are pending at Phillips Funeral Home.

Patricia Fritz

RACELAND, Ky. – Patricia Fritz, 37, of Raceland died today at her home.

She was the wife of Bobby Fritz, who survives.

Arrangements are pending at Phillips Funeral Home.

Charles Sesher

Charles Albert Sesher, 81, of Ironton, formerly of Ashland, Ky., died Monday at his home after an extended illness.

He was the husband of Helen B. Harr Sesher, who survives.

Davy Hoover

PROCTORVILLE – Davy Hoover, 69, of Proctorville died Monday at St. Mary’s Hospital in Huntington, W.Va.
