Dawson-Bryant School District might be facing a challenge now, but administrators, teachers and parents are making sure the future will be bright for the district and its students.

They have worked together to create a Continuous Improvement Plan, which touches on everything from curriculum choice, test scores, staffing and goals for children at each grade level.

The approach is proactive and comprehensive, setting standards that all agree are not only necessary, but achievable.

Their work is not voluntary – some school districts are being asked to come up with these plans to shore some areas in which they need to improve. Dawson-Bryant has been identified as one of those districts. But, unlike some districts around the state, Dawson-Bryant is not just going through the motions to appease the state. There is a lot of work going into these plans, and input is being sought from anyone who could possibly come up with an idea to improve the educational experience for Dawson-Bryant’s students.

And that is the best way to make sure that this plan does more than sit on a shelf.

Making better schools is not a magical process. Making changes requires cooperation and hard work. Dawson-Bryant has taken the first step. Now, it is up to the parents and students to become partners in what surely will be a successful year.
