Did you remember to get up early Sunday to surprise your father with a nice breakfast? Did you take him to lunch? Buy him a present? Or, did you just take a little time to thank him?
Whatever the means, Father’s Day was the right time to look dear old dad in the eye and tell him what a help he has been in your life.
Every day it seems – whether at work, school, home or points in between – we use a little bit of the knowledge gained from our fathers.
We’re reminded of them by the decisions we make. And things that happen to us in our daily walk often bring back memories of childhood chats, those for-your-own-good arguments or games of catch.
Sometimes, as if catching us off guard like he used to, dad appears before us when we look in the mirror.
In each of us, there is a little bit of our father.
We could do much worse than following a little bit of his example every day.
And we could do much better by thanking him for setting it.
