Paul Markel

Paul R. Markel, 74, of Ironton died today at his home.

He was the husband of Emma Markel, who survives.

Arrangements are pending at Phillips Funeral Home.

Mildred Bailey

Jan. 24, 1921-Nov. 7, 2000

SOUTH POINT – Mildred I. Bailey, 79, of South Point died Tuesday at her home after an extended illness.

The Ironton native was born Jan. 24, 1921, the daughter of the late Edward and Lydia Mills Legg.

She was the wife of the late Ross E. Bailey.

She was a housewife and a 50-year member of the South Point United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Women’s Society.

She also was preceded in death by one sister, Ethel Federwisch.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Edward and Connie Bailey of South Point and Phillip and Linda Bailey of Burleson, Texas; one daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Allen Uthe of Solon; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Charles Legg of South Point, Fred Legg of Groveport and Don Legg of Rush, Ky.; two sisters, Mary Wells of Ironton and Ruth Clements of Nashville, Tenn.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday at Tracy Brammer Funeral Home, with the Rev. Pete Shaffer officiating.

Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

 

Helen Reinhardt

July 30, 1903-Nov. 6, 2000

Helen E. Reinhardt, 97, of Ironton died Monday at the home of her daughter and son-in-law after an extended illness.

The Portsmouth native was born July 30, 1903, the daughter of the late Henry McAbier and Mae Knoxel.

She was the wife of the late Paul W. Reinhardt.

She was a housewife and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Ironton.

She also was preceded in death by two daughters, Barbara Wagoner and Judith Ann Reinhardt; and one son, Paul Reinhardt.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret and Robert Fortune of Tampa, Fla., and Sarah and Leroy Waddell of Ironton; two sons and one daughter-in-law, James and Edith Reinhardt of Ironton and Jude Reinhardt of Ironton; 15 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Father Thomas Nau officiating.

Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, St. Mary’s Circle, Portsmouth.

Visitation will be 6-9 pm. today at Tracy Brammer Funeral Home, with a Rosary service at 6:30 p.m.

 

Robert Reed

Oct. 30, 1917-Nov. 7, 2000

GREENUP, Ky. – Robert E. Reed, 83, of Greenup died Tuesday at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.

The Greenup County native was born Oct. 30, 1917, the son of the late Asa T. and Melvina Stapleton Reed.

He was the husband of Eddith Gilliam Reed, who survives.

He was a retired auto worker and union representative for Hudson Motor Co. and Bower Roller Bearings.

He attended the Little Rosa Old Regular Baptist Church and was the past vice president of the UAWCIO Local 154 in Detroit, Mich.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include one son, Earl Roger Reed of Pontiac, Mich.; one daughter, Carol Reed Nicol of Harrison Township, Mich.; one brother, Fred Reed of Greenup; six sisters, Iva Potter of Greenup, Jean Parsons of New Boston, Ohio, Betty Royster of Lloyd, Minnie Barrett of Wellington, Ohio, Blanch Kronk of Pataskala, Ohio, and Essie Bryant of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Little Rosa Old Regular Baptist Church, with Paris Tackett, Willis Tolliver, Johnny Thornsberry and Paul Boggs officiating.

Burial will be in Smith Branch Cemetery.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. today at Wright’s Funeral Home; and 9-11 a.m. Thursday at the church.

 

Juanita Fain

June 18, 1923-Nov. 7, 2000

ASHLAND, Ky. – L. Juanita Fain, 77, of Ashland died Tuesday at Wurtland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after an extended illness.

The Greenup native was born June 18, 1923, the daughter of the late Martin Adkins and Mary Alice Gillum.

She was the wife of Ralph Fain, who survives.

She was a retired fountain clerk for Scott Drugs.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include one stepson, Roger Fain of Ashland; two daughters, Retha Reams of San Antonio, Texas, and Linda Meeks of Kitts Hill, Ohio; two stepdaughters, Judith Coburn of Worthington and Jennifer L. Stafford of Sandy Hook; five grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; one brother, Ernest Adkins of Greenup; and one sister, Mary Adkins of Greenup.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Carman Funeral Home, with the Rev. James Webster officiating.

Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

 

Kenneth Robinson

May 7, 1947-Nov. 6, 2000

GALLIPOLIS – Kenneth W. Robinson, 57, of Gallipolis died Monday at Holzer Medical Center.

The Blackfork native was born May 7, 1943, the son of the late Lawrence E. and Doris M. Galliamore Robinson.

He was the husband of Carol S. Harris Robinson, who survives.

He was a member of Local 83, International Laborers Union of North America in Portsmouth and was also a member of the Living Waters Church.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three daughters and sons-in-law, Jessica and Mike Dent, Olga R. and James Whealdon and Janelle L. Robinson, all of Gallipolis; three sons and four daughters-in-law, Kenneth W. and Connie Robinson Jr. of Oak Hill, Jeptha D. and Barbie Robinson and Nathan G. and Mandy Robinson, all of Gallipolis, and Loretta L. Novak Blanchard of Cambridge; 11 grandchildren; and one brother and sister-in-law, Lawrence M. and Toogie Robinson of Oak Hill.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Cremeens Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Dan Freeman officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery.

Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
