LUCASVILLE – Family fun begins 8 a.m. today at the annual 2000 County Fair at Scioto County Fairgrounds, just off U.S. 23 in Lucasville.

This year’s Scioto fair will boast live music, circus acts, livestock exhibits, tractors, flowers and some anticipated car collisions.

Live music acts, all taking place at 8 p.m., will include country favorites Patty Loveless, Monday; Black Hawk, Tuesday; Lila McCann, Wednesday; and Ty Herndon, Friday.

Other grandstand events include the Continental Circus, which will perform two shows Thursday – at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Tires will screech at 8 p.m. Saturday, when the participants in this year’s demolition derby crank their engines and go for broke.

Livestock exhibits, sponsored by 4-H, will boast horses, hogs, rabbits steers, goats and lambs.

General admission is $6, which includes grandstands, as well as free health tests and midway rides.

The fair schedule includes:

Sunday, Aug. 6:

8 a.m. – Arrival of 4-H and open livestock

1 p.m. – Open Horse Show

6 p.m. – Fun 4-H Horse Show

Monday, Aug. 7: WPAY and Pepsi Night

8 a.m. – 4-H weigh-in

9 a.m. to noon – Setting up of 4-H exhibits, entering of still, clothing and nutrition projects; poultry and rabbits penned

10 a.m. – Gates open.

Noon to 4 p.m. – 4-H building closed to public.

12:45 p.m. – Introduction of queen and court

1 p.m. – 4-H style revue (small stage area)

8 p.m.- Patty Loveless

Tuesday, Aug. 8: Southern Ohio Fence, Redoutey Logging, Gahm’s Super Valu and Pharmacy, Donnie Martin Heating and Cooling, McGovney Ready Mix, Subway, Boyd Co. Ford, Arrick’s Propane, Shawnee Animal Clinic, Stage Door Video, Dennis Little (Scotty’s Pottys), Crabtree’s Carpet, M&J Welding Night

8 a.m. Admission gates open

9 a.m. – 4-H booth judging – 4-H building closed

9 a.m. – Culinary, needlework, art, grange, farm products judging

Noon – Pet show (livestock arena)

12:30 p.m. – Flower show

8 p.m. – Formal opening of fair, Jr. fair queen introduction, Black Hawk

Wednesday, Aug. 9: Pepsi, Country Store, Lamar Advertising Night

8 a.m. – Admission gates open, 4-H beef show (livestock arena)

9 a.m. – Open class rabbit judging, 4-H horse show, 4-H poultry show (poultry barn)

4:30 p.m. – Registration: National Kiddie Tractor Pullers’ Association

5-7 p.m. – National kiddie tractor pull

8 p.m. – Lila McCann

Thursday, Aug. 10: Community Common, Kroger and Martings Night

8 a.m. – Admission gates open, 4-H swine show (livestock arena)
