WEST PORTSMOUTH – The Ironton Fighting Tigers golf team opened its season finishing second to Portsmouth Notre Dame in Notre Dame’s tournament at the Portsmouth Elks Country Club.

WEST PORTSMOUTH – The Ironton Fighting Tigers golf team opened its season finishing second to Portsmouth Notre Dame in Notre Dame’s tournament at the Portsmouth Elks Country Club.

"We played poorly," Ironton coach Bill Washburn said. "No one played to their potential. We had too many big holes. We had four sevens and 19 sixes."

Andy Brown led all Tigers with a 79 including a pair of birdies. Adam Rudmann shot an 80, Bo McGinnis had an 82, Zack Christian carded an 83, Jeff Parnell 92, and T.J. Parnell had 93.

Joe Augustine of Notre Dame and Brian Bickle of Gallia Academy tied for low medalist honors with 76.

Notre Dame shot 312 as a team, the Fighting Tigers combined for a 324, Gallipolis shot 328, and Portsmouth had a 386 total.
