BIDWELL – A man fatally shot his wife in the parking lot of an elementary school and went home and killed himself, a coroner said.
Linda Shoemaker was shot several times by her husband, Frank, about 6:30 a.m. while in her car at Bidwell-Porter Elementary School, where she is a cook, said Gallia County Coroner Dr. Daniel Whiteley.
A school employee called authorities, he said.
Shoemaker’s body was later found at his home, about eight miles from the school, he said.
”There were at least three shotgun casings on the ground around her car,” Whiteley said.
The shooting appeared to be the result of a domestic dispute, Gallia County Sheriff J.D. Taylor said.
There were no students in the building, Whiteley said. The school closed Tuesday because of the shooting, he said.
Bidwell is 80 miles southeast of Columbus.
