Justin Kisor and J.D. Castor inspect the walls of a pit that was dug out for a soil judging Thursday. The boys had to grade the soil on whether

it would be good for farming and for building. The annual event, which is sponsored by the Lawrence County Soil and Water Conservation District, is a local contest designed to allow FFA members to hone their skills before district competition. The local teams were from Symmes Valley High School and Collins Career Center. The results of the competition are due this week.
