Cold weather may have settled on Saturday’s Rio Grande Invitational, but the two Ironton Fighting Tiger runners didn’t seem to let the conditions bother them.

Herman placed third overall in the girls race with a time of 21:46. The overall winner was Jennifer Kleiner of Harrison.

Division I Lancaster won the meet with 61 points.

Lewis placed 19th among the dozens of runners with a 19:37 time. Waterford’s Jacob Arnold had the winning time of 17:31.

"Sarah ran a really good race against some really cold weather. That’s not easy to do," Ironton coach Tim Thomas said. "Seth was up against some awful good runners and he did really well. He had a real good time despite the weather conditions. But I thought all our kids ran with a lot of determination."

Also placing for Ironton were Matt Norris with a time of 23:33 to finish 54th, Aaron Watson 59th at 24:36, and Jason Philabaun 62nd with a 25:27 clocking.

Vincent Warren, a Division II school, won the team title with 45 points.
