Scioto County authorities have arrested three Franklin Furnace men for the Monday robbery of Subway in Wheelersburg.
On Wednesday, detectives arrested Jesse J. Smith, 19, Gregory H. Russell, 20, and Benny Kilgore, 18, all of Franklin Furnace, Scioto County Sheriff Marty Donini said.
All three were charged with felony first-degree aggravated robbery, Donini said.
On Monday, two males entered the Subway store at 10:20 p.m. and began talking to an employee at the counter, he said.
While talking, the suspects allegedly came around the counter brandishing knives, Donini said.
They took an undetermined amount of cash from the register, exited the store, got into a 1980s-model Chevy car and fled the area, he said.
Sheriff’s detectives began an investigation, which led to the three men’s arrests, Donini said.
Bond has been set at $50,000 per person, pending a Portsmouth Municipal Court appearance today.
The sheriff encourages anyone with information on the Subway robbery to contact detective Sgt. David S. Hall at the Scioto County Sheriff’s Department, 1-740-354-7566 or 1-740-355-8245. All information is kept confidential, he said.
