HUNTINGTON – The season is over for William Butler and it hasn’t even started.
Marshall University head basketball coach Greg White announced that Butler has suffered an injury that will sideline him for the entire 2000-2001 season.
"It is a devastating injury, but William has faced it and will get it repaired and we must all move forward," White said. "This is the very unfortunate part of basketball that as coaches we all have to face at one time or another. We all wish William the best and hope for a full recovery."
Butler came to the Thundering Herd from Sante Fe Community College in Gainesville, Fla. As a sophomore for the Saints, he averaged 19 points and nine rebounds a game.
Butler chose Marshall over such schools as Kansas St., Florida St., UNC-Charlotte, Memphis, Georgia and Texas A & M. He is majoring in sociology at Marshall.
