TROY – Kyle Hoyng threw for three touchdowns and ran for two more as Coldwater beat Germantown Valley View 41-15 in a Division IV state semifinal Friday.

Hoyng was 16-of-24 for 227 yards with touchdown passes of 17 yards to Ron Kahlig, four yards to Matt Bruns and 11 yards to Doug Borger.

Tyler Vogel rushed for 137 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries for the Cavaliers (12-2).

Dustin Strayer threw for two touchdowns to Brian Ritze for the Spartans (12-2) who lost in their bid for their fourth state championship. Valley View won state titles in 1994 and 1996-97.

Coldwater will be playing for its first state title against Youngstown Ursuline Friday at Canton Fawcett Stadium. The Fighting Irish (13-1) beat Newark Licking Valley 42-21 in the other Division IV semifinal.
