The Pointers were focused Tuesday night as they routed the New Boston Tigers in their season opener.

"The kids seemed really focused. There are things we have to work on, but we stayed focused and stayed with it," Pointers coach Mark Lafon said.

Shane Holsinger scored a game-high 29 points and had nine assists as the Pointers breezed.

Jarred Perdue had 19 points and 10 rebounds, Wilson Ehirim scored 11 points, and Donte Pennington added 10 for the Pointers.

Dan Kirkindall had 12 for New Boston.

The Pointers jumped out to an 18-4 first quarter lead and were up 42-15 at the half.

Holsinger and Perdue combined for 32 points – 16 each - over the second and third quarters to lead the onslaught.

The lead ballooned to 66-31 after three quarters.

"This group has fun being around together. They push each other. If their attitude stays in check, we should compete," said Lafon.
