They played better.

Symmes Valley won for the first time in four games with a 50-40 win over the Portsmouth Notre Dame Lady Titans Monday.

"We looked a lot better. We ran our offense better," Lady Vikings coach Rob Bess said. "We only ended up with five assists, but we took better shots. And we really played good defense, especially the third quarter."

Keren Bell has 16 points and 11 rebounds to lead the win. Rebecca Bodmer scored 10 points and had two assists, Jessica Slagle six rebounds, and Melissa Thompson six points.

Laura Graf had 10 points to pace Notre Dame.

Symmes Valley was up 40-26 after three quarters and led by as many as 25 the fourth quarter.
