COAL GROVE – The only pace the Green Lady Bobcats care about is the pace for wins.

Green adjusted to the style of the game and won its fourth in five tries by rallying past the Coal Grove Lady Hornets 39-31 Monday night.

"The whole game was kind of a slow down pace. We never could get a run on them. We finally got the lead the second half and we were able to hold on," Green coach Melissa Knapp said.

Megan Tackett had a big all-around game for Green with 15 points, 10 steals, and four assists. Samantha Jenkins had 11 rebounds, and Jennifer Cline added nine points and nine rebounds.

Sara Patterson scored nine points and Desiree Butler eight to lead the Lady Hornets, 2-2.

"Samantha Jenkins had a real good game. She had 11 rebounds and had some key baskets," Knapp said. "Another big key was shutting down Ball and Butler. Those are their two big scorers. Butler can change the whole face of a game."

Butler had half her points the first quarter as Coal Grove took an 8-7 lead. Patterson scored four more the second quarter and the lead was 18-14 at the break.

But Cline scored five points the third quarter as Green went up 25-24.

Coal Grove regained the lead at 30-27 early in the fourth quarter, but Emily Horsley drained a 3-pointer to tie the game and Green took the lead for good.

"That was a big shot by Horsley," Knapp said.

On Thursday, Green hosts Ashland, Ky., at 6 p.m. while Coal Grove visits Symmes Valley.
