Sages and writers have penned words about how it takes a village to raise a child and how our nation’s future rests in the hands of our youth.

In Rome, those youth are learning responsibility.

They are learning that it takes a team of people to get things accomplished.

They are learning that a little hard work can make a big difference.

In short, they are preparing for a future where they will lead their communities, maybe even country, along the right path.

When we see children taking part in community affairs – whether it’s through a church youth program, scouting or other ways – the lessons taught are valuable.

And the experiences gained will help not only those youth but our own futures.

Such programs, and those who develop and work with them, should be commended.

They are doing a deed of great importance.
