Researchers in Portland, Ore., have successfully created "the world’s first genetically cloned primate" – a rhesus monkey with jellyfish DNA that enables it to glow in the dark.

With inserted DNA, scientists hope to some day be able to advance medical research and eliminate diseases such as Alzheimer’s and HIV. Though some scientists feel genetically modifying the rhesus monkey – which shares about 95 percent of its genes with humans – may benefit medical research, others have been critical.
