Kathleen Patrick is the new postmaster of Ironton and David James Manring takes over in South Point.

Patrick has worked with the postal service for 19 years. She worked as a rural carrier in Gallipolis before being promoted to supervisor there. She has worked as a postmaster in Proctorville and South Point prior to her promotion to the Ironton post.

"This is the most important thing I’ve ever done in my life," said Patrick.

Manring served the postal system for 20 years. He started as a clerk for the main post office in Columbus. In 1982 he transferred to a city carrier in Westerville and in 1988 he was promoted to customer service supervisor in Westerville.

In 1992, Manring was awarded the customer service supervisor position in Dublin. He served as officer-in-charge in the Galena Post Office prior to his promotion to postmaster of South Point.

"According to the 2000 census, South Point is the fastest growing community in Lawrence County," said Manring. "This is a unique opportunity to serve the citizens of South Point. I really want to do things right."
