FRANKLIN FURNACE – Like Mission: Impossible, Noel Mains was given the assignment. But this wasn’t any impossible assignment for her.

Mains was given the task of guarding Green’s Megan Tackett, the team’s leading scorer. Mains held Tackett to just six points as the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers posted a 64-38 win Wednesday night.

"We didn’t want to let (Jennifer) Cline and Tackett dictate the game," Ironton coach Kevin Richardson said. "Noel did a great job on their point guard defensively. She’s been out, so it was good to have her and her defense back. Green never got comfortable in its offense because of our defensive pressure."

Jessica Ensor did help dictate Ironton’s offense with 21 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and two steals. Ashley Hannon had 19 points while Mains finished with nine points, six assists, three rebounds, and three steals.

Samantha Jenkins had 14 points and Cline nine points to pace Green.

Jenkins had seven points the first quarter and Green trailed just 11-10. But Ensor hit a 3-pointer to spark the offense the second quarter as Ironton took a 25-17 halftime lead.

The lead went to 38-25 after three quarters and Ensor scored 10 points and Hannon eight the fourth quarter as Ironton put 26 points on the board to win going away.
