COAL GROVE – The Fairland Lady Dragons plan to be greedy.

Fairland clinched a share of the Ohio Valley Conference championship Monday night, but the Lady Dragons won’t be happy until they have the title outright and with a perfect league record.

The Lady Dragons whipped the Coal Grove Lady Hornets 68-29 Monday and ran their record to 14-1 overall and 6-0 in the OVC.

"We felt pretty good after the game, but we’d still like to finish the OVC unbeaten. That’s our goal right now, and we still have to go to Rock Hill for a tough game and we have to play at South Point," Lady Dragons coach Nathan Speed said.

Jeana Diamond led three players in double figures for Fairland with 18 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the field. She also had 10 rebounds and a blocked shot.

Jennifer Jones scored 14 points and Brooke Godby had 10 points.

"Diamond has really picked up her play since we’ve started conference play. She’s more active on the boards. With the attention and double teams Ashley (Harris) is getting, it takes some of the pressure off Jeana," Speed said.

Harris scored six points the first quarter as Fairland jumped out to a 17-8 lead.

Diamond scored six points the second quarter as the led went to 33-12 after three quarters.

Five points by Jones helped build a comfortable 47-19 lead after three quarters.
