Jeff Handley says, it’s that time of year again.
Ironton High School will soon begin rehearsals for this year’s musical theater selection, "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying."
This comedic musical is sure to entertain, said Handley, who will once again direct the traditional school offering.
It is a story about a young man named J. Pierreport Finch who climbs to the top in the business world, but not by the traditional method of "hard work."
Instead, Finch follows the simple rules in a book entitled, "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying."
The story travels through Mr. Finch’s ups and downs, obstacles and accomplishments on his way to the top, Handley said.
"And, it lets us get to know all the people who helped and tried to prevent him from trying to succeed," he said.
There’s his rival – the boss’s nephew; the mailroom trap; the office world; the office party; the dangerous secretary; the board meeting; the jealous executives and, of course, the big boss himself.
Life is never the same once Finch starts on his road to the top, Handley said.
The play will be presented at the Ironton High School auditorium March 30-31 at 8 p.m. and April 1 at 2 p.m. Admission for adults is $5, and $2 for students.
