PROCTORVILLE – It’s hard to stop a moving target.

And since the Fairland Lady Dragons have been moving well, it’s easy to understand why the Lady Dragons haven’t been stopped but one time this season.

With four players in double figures, Fairland moved to 16-1 on the season with a 67-42 win over the River Valley Lady Raiders Monday.

"We’ve been real balanced lately and that’s good. That means you’re moving the ball well and finding the open person. And we shot the ball well," Fairland first-year coach Nathan Speed said.

Jeana Diamond scored a game-high 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Lady Dragons. Ashley Harris had 11 points and 13 rebounds to back Diamond while Brooke Godby and Jennifer Jones scored 11 each.

"Our post players Gina and Ashley work so well together. People notice them for rebounding and scoring, but people don’t realize they’re good passers and they’re good defensively," said Speed.

Jones had seven points the first quarter as Fairland took a 14-7 lead. Diamond pounded the nets for nine points the second quarter as the lead ballooned to 32-12.

Fairland outscored River Valley 20-14 the third quarter and the lead was 52-26

"Our press did well tonight. We had to back out of it the second half because of foul trouble. Our success all year has been how well we’ve played defensively," said Speed.

Cynthia Ward and Nicole Watkins had 15 points each to lead River Valley.

Fairland, which has already won the Ohio Valley Conference championship, travels to Rock Hill Thursday and hopes to try and finish the OVC season unbeaten.
