PROCTORVILLE - Good was good enough. Although Fairland Dragons coach Joey Thacker wasn’t totally pleased, he was more than happy that his team knocked off the South Gallia Rebels 54-39 Tuesday night.

"Our defense was pretty good, but we just weren’t that sharp," Thacker said.

"The fact we held them to 11 points the first half was. Our intensity was there but we weren’t mentally sharp. We’ve got three games this week and we might have been overlooking them a little."

Glen Chapman had 15 points and eight rebounds to lead the Dragons while Josh Dunfee had 12 points, five rebounds, and two blocked shots.

Kyle Mooney scored 16 points and Jason Merrick got 10 to pace South Gallia (3-14).

Chapman scored the first six points for the Dragons to start the game as they took a 13-7 lead.

Chapman had six more points the second quarter as the lead went to 22-11 at the half.

The lead grew to 36-20 after three quarters and Fairland led by as many as 20 points the fourth quarter before the Rebels cut the deficit to 12.

But the Dragons pulled away to their fourth win in 17 games.

Fairland hosts Piketon Wednesday night in a makeup game.
