DEKALB, Ill. – Tamar Slay scored 22 points Wednesday night in leading Marshall to a 94-66 win over Northern Illinois.

Travis Young added 17 points for Marshall’s Thundering Herd (15-5, 8-4 Mid-American Conference). Cornelius Jackson and J.R. VanHoose scored 15 points apiece.

Jackson dished out a game-high 10 assists for Marshall, which completed 56 percent of its field goal attempts. VanHoose pulled down 10 rebounds.

Marcus Smallwood and Morgan Thompson led Northern’s Huskies (4-16, 3-8) with 13 points apiece. Stephen Jones added 12 points and had a game-high five steals.

Marshall led 47-33 at the half and outshot the Huskies, completing 54 percent of its second half field goal attempts, while Northern hit only 33 percent. Northern only sank 39 percent of its field goal attempts in the entire game.

Marshall also outrebounded Northern 39-to-27.
