Unfortunately for Rock Hill, the Chesapeake Panthers were coming off their only loss of the season and the Redmen felt the brunt of their frustration.

Chesapeake bounced back from its one-point last-second loss in a big way with a 63-25 pounding of the Redmen Friday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

"We came out and played hard. Coming off the loss we wanted to have some intensity and we did. I was happy about that," Panthers coach Norm Persin said. "Once you get the lead, it’s hard to keep the focus, but for the most part our second group did that."

The Panthers second group got plenty of playing time. Persin substituted freely the first half and emptied his bench for good with three minutes left in the third quarter.

Chesapeake is now 17-1 overall and leads the OVC at 6-0. A win Tuesday at Coal Grove would clinch at least a share of the title, an unprecedented sixth straight league championship.

Zeb Best led a balanced offense with 16 points. Anthony Delimpo added 10 points and eight rebounds, Josh Waugh had nine points and three steals, and Beckett Gue handed out four assists.

David Schug scored 11 points to lead the Redmen (5-13, 1-5).

Waugh got the Panthers off and running with six points the first quarter including a pair of dunks and it was 19-7.

The spread grew to 36-17 at the half and then Best scored six points the third quarter as the Panthers outscored the Redmen 18-3 and stretched the lead to 54-20.

Chesapeake was 26-of-49 from the field for 53.1 percent including 23-of-41 from 2-point range or 56.1 percent.
