PEDRO – More information is being sought in connection with the Monday morning accident at the intersection of State Route 93 and Pine Grove Road (County Road 26) that resulted in the deaths of two people.

According to the Ironton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the accident, which occurred at around 6 a.m., claimed the lives of Rosa Wilson, 39, of Coal Grove and Michael E. Rister, 49, of South Webster.

According to reports, Wilson was driving a 1987 Nissan Stanza eastbound on Pine Grove Road and failed to yield at the stop sign at the intersection of 93. She proceeded into the roadway and was struck by a Chevy S-10 pickup driven southbound on 93 by Rister. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.

Ironton Post Commander Lt. Carl Roark said it appears Rister was not wearing a safety belt. Roark said that if Rister had been wearing a seat belt, he may have survived the crash.

Preliminary reports indicate that Wilson was wearing her seatbelt.

Roark said the patrol is seeking witnesses to the accident. Anyone with any information is urged to contact the Ironton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol at 377-4311.
