Acting Police Chief Christopher Bowman said police officers have been investigating the October 1999 robbery of the Rich Oil gas station located at 1717 Liberty Ave.

Late this week, Bowman said, information became available to investigators. The investigation led to the arrest of Jimmy R. McCallister, 29, 1125 S. Seventh St., Ironton.

Bowman said McCallister was already incarcerated in the Lawrence County Jail for unrelated charges.

McCallister was arraigned in municipal court Thursday before Judge Clark Collins where he faced one count of aggravated robbery. Bond was set at $10,000. McCallister is still jailed.

According to police reports, McCallister allegedly entered the store and demanded money from the cash register while holding a bottle over the clerk’s head, threatening the clerk’s life.

Bowman said the investigation that led to McCallister’s arrest was a "cooperative effort between the Ironton Police Department and the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department."
