AID – What a way to start a season. Jessica Mann began the softball season for Fairland by hurling a no-hitter as the Lady Dragons blanked the Symmes Valley Lady Vikings 15-0 in six innings Wednesday.

Mann struck out 12 and walked only three in pitching her masterpiece.

Fairland (1-0) collected 11 hits led by Brooke Fisher who was 3-for-4, Kim Frazer 3-5, and Jessica Mann.

Fairland got all the runs it really needed when it took a 2-0 lead in the first.

Megan Fisher walked, Frasher singled, and n error in the outfield allowed a run to score. A throwing error on the return to the infield scored Frasher.

A run scored in the second when Ann Capper walked, Holly Black singled, a wild pitch move therunners up, and Jennifer Jones hit into a fielder’s choice.

It went to 4-0 in the third. Brooke Fisher walked, stole second, and scored when Jessica Mann was safe on an error.

Three more runs scored in the fourth.

Jones walked, stole second, and Brooke Fisher singled. Frasher was safe on an outfield error as two runs scored. Jessica Mann then doubled home a run.

Fairland erupted for eight runs in the sixth on five hits and three errors.

Green 13, Eastern 5 BEAVER – It might not have been called a "laugher,"but the Green Lady Bobcats could have called it a "chuckle."

The Lady Bobcats banged out 11 hits en route to a 13-5 win over the Eastern Lady Eagles in a Southern Ohio Conference game.

Green, 1-1 and 1-0, jumped out to a 4-0 lead to start the game.

Heidi McDavid singled, stole second and third, and Shelly Knight had an RBI single. Erica Bradley reached on an error and Jennifer Cline was safe on an error as two runs scored. Meagan Pierce reached on another error, stole second, and Crystal Williams hit a sacrifice fly.

After Eastern got a run in the bottom of the first, Green used two walks, three more errors, a double by Cline and a single by Amber Spears to help score seven runs in the second to lead 11-1.

The Lady Bobcats scored two in the fourth.

Hillary Keller was safe on an error, Williams singled, and Haley Keller reached on an error as her sister Hillary scored. McDavid then doubled home the final run.

McDavid went 3-for-5 to lead the Lady Bobcats. Amber Spears was 2-for-3 with three runs batted in.
