Willow Wood – Symmes Valley students are preparing for a carnival.
Symmes Valley High School drama students are gearing up for their performance of the musical "Carnival" which will run this weekend.
The play is set in the French countryside as Lili, a young, simple-minded French girl runs away to join a rough-cut carnival crew that hopes to one day perform in Paris.
Along the way, Lili falls in love with Marco the Magician and confides her secrets to the carnival’s puppets. In turn, the puppeteer behind the puppet falls in love with Lili after listening to her spill her thoughts to the puppets.
Lili is portrayed by senior Jinny Whitt, Chad Higgins plays the puppeteer and Josh Robinson plays the magician.
Symmes Valley’s rendition of "Carnival" is directed by Danny Payne.
The play runs Saturday at 7 p.m. and on Sunday at 3 p.m. Tickets are $3 for adults and $2 for students.
