SOUTH POINT – It was a sneak peak into the Ohio Valley Conference season, but a nice, long look into the South Point Pointers.
After the first two games, South Point played the Coal Grove Hornets and first-year head coach Brent Wilcoxon unveiled a new offense.
With tight splits, a single running back, two wingbacks, and plenty of motion the Pointers new offense generated a 24-8 win.
"I didn’t know anyone. I got to fooling with it last October. I got on the net and e-mailed different people and exchanging ideas," Wilcoxon said. "It’a little bit different. The kids have bought into it and it seems like they enjoy it."
Since Wilcoxon has never been a head coach, he began devising his offense late last October.
"I got to fooling with (the new offense) last October. I didn’t really know anyone and I got on the Internet and e-mailed different people and exchanged some ideas," said Wilcoxon.
In other games, Fairland topped River Valley 14-0 and Chesapeake got past Rock Hill 14-7.
